The Abrahamic College of Jerusalem announces results
Wajdi Nihad Abu Gharbieh Award for Literary Creativity 2019

The Abrahamic College celebrated last Wednesday the announcement of the results and distribution of the Wajdi Nihad Abu Gharbieh Prize for Literary Creativity 2019, in the presence of the principals of the participating schools, teachers and students, in the presence of the President of the Abrahamic College Mrs. Nadira Abu-Ghazaleh and members of the administrative and teaching staff at the college.
The ceremony began with a fragrant recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by student Laith al-Hadmi and then the Palestinian national peace.
The ceremony master and the coordinator of the award activities, Mr. Amin Al-Basha, welcomed the attendees and gave a brief explanation about the progress of the award activities for the current academic year.
On behalf of the College President, Mrs. Nadera Abu-Ghazaleh welcomed the attendees and the motives for which the late Mr. Nihad Abu-Gharbieh launched this award in support of the movement of literary, cultural and heritage creativity among our students in Jerusalem in particular and Palestine in general.
The audience then watched a film about the various activities of the award, which included events of short story writing, critical comic representation, expressive heritage paintings and poetry duels.
The President of the College, accompanied by Mr. Abdul Salam Abu Rumailah, Vice-President, presented the Shields to the principals of the participating schools and was as follows:
Al Eman Secondary School for Girls, Al Ibrahimia College in Jerusalem, Dar Al Tefl Al Arabi, Comprehensive Secondary School for Girls, Regular Secondary School for Girls, Bridge International, Al Eman Secondary School for Boys and Princess Basma School.
The jury members were also honored: Dr. Ziad Mokbel, educator Rutaiba Farah and educator Amina Maragha, while Princess Basma School presented an artistic presentation to the Palestinian Dabke that was well received and encouraged.
The results were announced through short films, where Ms. Nadira Abu-Ghazaleh, accompanied by Mr. Abdulsalam Abu-Rmileh, distributed the prizes to the winners as follows:
Short Story Effectiveness:
First place was won by student Jumana Zahida from the Abrahamic College and received a prize of eight hundred shekels, followed by Aya Shaheen from Nizamiya Secondary School for Girls and 500 shekels while Siham Kamel Madqa from Al-Eman Secondary School for Girls was awarded second place Nour Al-Sarkhi from Al-Fattah Comprehensive Secondary School received NIS 400 for her fourth place, while Aseel Sharawneh from Dar Al-Tefl Al-Arabi got fifth place and NIS 300.
Poetry duels:
The first winner was Al-Fattah Comprehensive Secondary School and she received an amount of NIS 1,000, while Al-Eman Secondary School for Girls received an amount of 700 NIS for obtaining the second place, while the Abrahamic College got the third rank and an amount of five hundred NIS.
The effectiveness of critical comic representation:
The Abrahamic College and Al-Eman Secondary School for Girls received the first rank and a prize of NIS 1,000 each.
The effectiveness of heritage paintings:
Princess Basma Secondary School won the first place with the distinguished Dabkeh performances and received a financial prize of NIS 1,500.
Bridge International School ranked third in its traditional singing and dabke performances, 700 shekels. Finally, Al-Eman Secondary School for Girls ranked fourth and 500 shekels for the Palestinian students and wedding ceremonies.
